I think the most important piece of knowledge I have ever been given is knowing that I am responsible for my own results.

Self Relience is a beutiful thing.....

It means you can save money on court costs!

Check this out for a classic article on CNN.com

This was taken from
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/08/03/new.york.jobless.graduate/index.html

NEW YORK (CNN) -- A recent college graduate is suing her alma mater for $72,000 -- the full cost of her tuition and then some -- because she cannot find a job.

Trina Thompson has sued her alma mater, Monroe College of New York.

Trina Thompson, 27, of the Bronx, graduated from New York's Monroe College in April with a bachelor of business administration degree in information technology.

On July 24, she filed suit against the college in Bronx Supreme Court, alleging that Monroe's "Office of Career Advancement did not help me with a full-time job placement. I am also suing them because of the stress I have been going through."

The college responded that it offers job-search support to all its students.

In her complaint, Thompson says she seeks $70,000 in reimbursement for her tuition and $2,000 to compensate for the stress of her three-month job search.

As Thompson sees it, any reasonable employer would pounce on an applicant with her academic credentials, which include a 2.7 grade-point average and a solid attendance record. But Monroe's career-services department has put forth insufficient effort to help her secure employment, she claims.

"They're supposed to say, 'I got this student, her attendance is good, her GPA is all right -- can you interview this person?' They're not doing that," she said.

Don't Miss
Read the court filing (pdf)
Thompson said she has fulfilled her end of the job-search bargain, peppering companies listed on Monroe's e-recruiting site with cover letters, résumés and phone calls. But no more than two employers have responded to her outreach, and those leads have borne no fruit.

Her complaint adds, "The office of career advancement information technology counselor did not make sure their Monroe e-recruiting clients call their graduates that recently finished college for an interview to get a job placement. They have not tried hard enough to help me."

She suggested that Monroe's Office of Career Advancement shows preferential treatment to students with excellent grades. "They favor more toward students that got a 4.0. They help them more out with the job placement," she said.

Monroe College released a statement saying that "while it is clear that no college, especially in this economy, can guarantee employment, Monroe College remains committed to working with all its students, including Ms. Thompson, who graduated only three months ago, to prepare them for careers and to support them during their job search."

Thompson says she has not hired an attorney to represent her because she cannot afford one. When she filed her complaint, she also filed a "poor person order," which exempts her from filing fees associated with the lawsuit.

Asked whether she would advise other college graduates facing job woes to sue their alma maters, Thompson said yes.

"It doesn't make any sense: They went to school for four years, and then they come out working at McDonald's and Payless. That's not what they planned."

It's unfortunate that nobody has told this lady exactly how in control of the situation she really is. She is prepared to persist with a law suite, yet applying for another job is out of the question.....?

I Got Scammed!

This Blog was written by Tony Rush, Posted on 10 June 2009
http://tonyrushblog.com/

I Got Scammed!

Man, I’m mad. I’m so mad I can’t see straight. And I’m not just being emotional. I’m an intelligent person and I’m speaking from experience. Don’t make the mistake I did or you’ll regret it.

Gold’s Gym is a scam. In fact, I think the whole fitness club industry is a scam.

I saw pictures of people who were fit and trim and beautiful. And I wanted to be fit and trim and beautiful. So, I paid the $30 fee to come every month.

Then, guess what! No one told me that I had to pay extra for those power-bar snacks that were on the counter. Or that my membership fee didn’t include the sports drinks. Or that a personal trainer wasn’t included.

These things should have been my first red flags.

But, still I was excited that I might be able to lose some weight and start looking good. So I ignored the warning signals and started working out.

Well, I did everything they told me to do. I worked my legs a little. I didn’t work out my arms because I hurt it one time in the past working out and I was afraid I’d get hurt again. So I skipped the arms.

I worked out my back. I worked my stomach a little bit but I decided I didn’t want to push myself too hard. Plus, I was getting hungry after all this working out so I went and bought a powerbar. SIX DOLLARS! I kid you not. If I hadn’t been so hungry, I wouldn’t have bought one. But one of the guys who worked out there said he used them for daily snacks and he looked pretty good. So I thought I’d “try” one.

Anyway. That’s not what made me mad. I’m coming to that part.

This all went on for a few days. I even spent $100 on workout clothes. It wasn’t required but other people in the gym had them so I thought I’d get some, too.

In fact, I spent another $100 on a pair of new workout shoes. I picked a pair that I felt like I could still use even if I stopped working out. You never know if things are going to pan out the way you want, you know?

Anyway…one day, I was talking to a guy in the locker room. I noticed he was about 40 pounds overweight and he told me he’d been coming to the gym for SIX MONTHS. I did the math in my head…”If this guy has been here for six months, why isn’t he thin and trim yet???”

That’s when the warning bells went off again. This whole thing might just be a scam to get people’s money. I mean, this guy wasn’t mad or anything….in fact, he was excited that he’d lost some weight….BUT HE’S STILL OVERWEIGHT! And he’s spending that money every month…and Gold’s Gym just keeps taking it!

Then I thought, “I should get on the Internet and look up Gold’s Gym!”. I don’t know why I didn’t do that before! So, I went to Google and typed in “Gold’s Gym scam” and you won’t believe what I found!

Seriously.

Did you know that 80% of the people who join Gold’s Gym cancel their membership within the first year? That 95% of the people who join Gold’s Gym have never won a fitness contest? Or gotten a job as a model?

I found one lady online who said she joined Gold’s Gym and the manager of the gym said she needed a personal trainer to help her create a “fitness plan” and to keep her on track. Guess what? She said it cost her an additional $200 a WEEK! What a ripoff! She DID say that she lost some weight while she was going but that — after she stopped going every day — the weight came back. She fired the trainer and said it was all a scam, too.

I even found one story about a guy who said that they Gold’s Gym stole his money. He was supposed to get a promotional price of $19 a month but when he got his credit card statement, he found out that they were charging him $30 a month. Of course they corrected it but…..still…..that’s pretty shady, don’t you think?

Anyway….

As if that wasn’t enough, some friends and I were at McDonald’s the other day and I mentioned something about Gold’s Gym. My friend Susan said that she’d tried Gold’s Gym a few years ago and got NO results at all. She laughed that I’d fallen for it, too. I was so mad I almost spilled my milkshake.

Anyway….after I read all the stuff on the Internet about Gold’s Gym and talked to some of my friends, I decided to quit. I don’t deal with scam artists. They’re just in it for the money. They act like they’re interested in people’s health but I guarantee you that — if no one paid them — they’d close up shop. So much for their “mission”, huh? If they’re so interested in helping people be trim and fit, why don’t they just do it for free?

And I’m beginning to think that those fit, trim, beautiful people in the Gym are part of the scam, anyway. Gold’s Gym probably pays them to come in there and work out so they can sell more memberships.

Am I saying that exercise doesn’t work? No, I’m not saying that. I’m sure it does. I’m just saying that you have to be careful when you join these big fancy gyms with the full-color brochures and all the stories of how people are getting results.

Because the truth is that those people are probably coming in there EVERY day to work out (not just sometimes)…..they’ve probably changed their eating habits (which no one mentioned to me)…and you can bet that they’re all buying a lot of extra stuff from the Gym that’s not part of their regular membership fee.

So, take it from me: Gold’s Gym is a rip-off. I know. I’ve been there. The idea that you can come in and work out every day and start looking fit and trim SOUNDS good….but that’s just to get you in the door and get your money.

Remember what they say, “If it sounds too good to be true…it probably is.”

Anyway, all this has taught me a lesson. I’m not going to get suckered again. Next time I see someone or something that can supposedly “improve my life”, I’ll think twice.

Whether it’s a diet…..a business idea…..or just an idea….I’ll go check it out on Google first.

After all….if it’s on the Internet, it must be true, right?

Be - Do - Have

I am writing this article for the person who is ABSOLUTELY SERIOUS about getting better results in their business, and are prepared to do what it takes to achieve those results! If that is not you, I will save you 5mins of your precious time and suggest you do something more productive.

I am going to give it to you straight up, the one 'secret' to getting bigger results in your business right NOW that every highly successful person on this planet knows about!

BE . DO . HAVE

This principle works every time, and the possibility of you reaching your goal is a 100% success rate every time.

Notice that I just brought another very important point into the mix.... (A GOAL). If you don't have a goal of exactly where you will be and in what time frame, then I will read the future for you, it’s not what you want it to be (because you don't know what you want!)

So……………. If you have a goal(s), and you are absolutely serious about changing the results you are currently getting in pursuit of that goal, and you will take action today.... Then the rest of this article is for YOU, and I absolutely admire your determination to get results better than the 'herd'.

BE, DO, Have... a very basic principle of success.
This is exactly what ‘personal development’ is all about, and since we are the only people in our life that can create or change our results, it is necessary to work on developing ‘ourselves’ twice as much as we develop ‘our business'.

BE DO HAVE- working from the end result.

BE: (MINDSET)
We can never outperform our own self image - it is physically impossible.
• You dress a certain way because that represent to others who you are (your own image how you appear to society).
• We place ourselves in situations we are confident at dealing with or prepared to challenge ourselves with (your own image of what is possible).
• We take action based on beliefs (your own image of your future)

The first step towards changing your results immediately is looking at your own CURRENT self image. Pull your own image in line with the goal you are working towards. Start viewing yourself as the person 'you will be' when you have achieved that goal. Be that person today, talk like that person now, think like that person would. The person you are being will influence and ultimately create the environment you live in. ‘Being’ is the starting point of success.

DO: (ACTION)
From simply 'being' someone different to who you are currently being, a natural progression of 'Doing' will take place. To be that person you need to act like them, so taking action towards your goal based on what is required to achieve that goal is necessary. Apply consistent action, everyday like that person would. Walk like that person (and I am not just talking about one step in front of the other - go places in your business that you haven't yet gone because you are waiting for something to happen first). If something is required in your business to achieve an outcome, DO it, PURCHASE it, CREATE it, whatever it takes....

HAVE: (REWARD)
The glory part of this 3 step principle. This step requires the individual to do nothing more than continue to live the life they are now creating. You have done all the work necessary to create the outcome. You will receive the exact outcome you have shown integrity towards creating. It is simple science (mathematics), the universe doesn't discriminate, it doesn't choose who receives a particular result, it doesn't change or influence a result that you have created. If you have done everything that is required of you, you have overcome every necessary challenge and influenced the transfer of energy (that could be money for example), you don't need to do anything more, the outcome has already been created, you just watch it manifest in front of your very eyes.

Lets do a quick example:

Goal: Bill has achieved a multiple 5 figure month in business, his goal is to now achieve a multiple 6 figure month.

Be: Bill needs to start acting with the mindset of a multiple 6 figure income producer. He must postulate confident, focused, clear and concise decisions. He must have a plan that will pave every step of the way, and the courage and persistence to keep applying himself when things veer of track or don't go the way he envisions (which is almost certain to happen).
- If Bill was was unsure of exactly what mindset to have, he could borrow the mindset from a person who has walked before him and already created those results in their life: read books, talk to leaders, surround himself with success. He is a product of his environment.

Do: Bill needs to start doing everything (and more) that a 6 figure monthly income producer in his line of work does. The work ethic and tempo needs to be adjusted, and Bill will be happy to do that because his mindset is not holding him back. It becomes an expectation that he do the required work (doing the action) because he has changed his thinking from 'when it happens' to 'it is happening right now'.

Have: Bill can expect the outcome he desires. If the outcome is delayed for whatever reason, that is OK, it will still happen, Bill just needs to adjust his process or step the game plan up a notch until he receives that outcome (Bill knows that outcome is possible, he has been associating with many people on a daily basis who are achieving those results).

The receiving part unfolds in Bills life in ways that he chooses not to focus his energy on. The surprise of the unknown is what keeps him shooting for bigger and better outcomes every day I his life.

Certainty is no way to go through life, live in the unknown, trust the universe will back you every time you are showing integrity towards your cause.

"Act if it were impossible to fail"
- Dorothy B

the only way you fail in life is if you give up.

If any of the above information is new to you, then I strongly recommend you research further these principles and start applying them to your life and to your business today.
They work for me, they work for Bill, they work for everyone who uses them properly. The results are immediate because a world of possibilities open that did not exist in YOUR life previously.

Success Is A Choice.

ps. if you would like some more information on this topic I highly recommend you read 'Think and Grow Rich' by Naopleon Hill

Being Greatful: The starting point of all achievement

I was talking with someone today during the course of my business activities. This person had just spent the last 7 months fighting terminal cancer - AND WON!!!!

Isn't that awesome?! I thought it was at least, she didn't share the same enthusiasm it seemed.

Her business was failing, she had no income and she had spent all her money on medical costs over the period of her hospitalization. I empathized with her current situation, but I am not surprised she doesn't have any money, she had her LIFE, so much more important!

She was not working her failing business while she was sick, so in my view it is unreasonable to expect that this was going to continue to prosper during that time. That is just reality, business doesn't make exceptions for the sick, you just have to manage how you can, the best way you can, in those circumstances.

I was confused though. I could not understand why she was focused on complaining about the LACK of things in her life. She did not seem at all in tuned with the fact that she was given the greatest outcome of all - The time on earth to continue to create and full fill her obligations. She has earned a second chance and she couldn't see that it was her that created this ultimate outcome.

She has every right to be confused and not thinking clearly as I imagine the past several months have taken a lot of physical, and more so mental strength, to achieve the outcome she is so fortunate to have had. To diffuse the escalating tension in her voice and the very negative focus she was taking with this phone call, I decided to pay her respect and acknowledge her achievements over the past 7 months.

I congratulated her on fighting to achieve what it was she wanted, and that was beating cancer. Her win is a testament to the power of her ability to get what she wants in life and from where I was sitting, it looked like the money issues she now faced were absolutely of minimal concern. If she used her mind to beat an internal problem of such magnitude, certainly any external problem, such as the absence of money at present time, was going to be an easy win.

She didn't seem to acknowledge my view on her prosper future, she continued to blame the doctors for this and that, blame the government for not helping enough with money, the business wasn't making any money, and it went on.

I asker her one quick question.
"Are you a broke cancer survivor, or, a cancer survivor with a purpose and intent to continue creating the outcomes you desires in life?"

Her reply, was simple.... "Leigh does this business (that she called me to enquire about) cost anything to set up? Becasue if it does, I have no money!"

This reminded me of a quote from Lance Armstrong.
"I am grateful for the knowledge of my own power".
The starting point of all achievement is being grateful for what we have to work with.

I found a nice video that may help this lady be greatful for where she is in life, and perhaps see the magnitude of her potential power from the perspective I am looking at it.

Media Fast

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 269px; height: 172px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_FCQg4OshCf8/SaDcm0lLVbI/AAAAAAAAACA/IPLBztrCXsw/s400/media+fast.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305482920550159794" />
For the past 30 days I have taken part in a 3 month long media fast.

My intention is to block my mind from the manipulating and targeted propaganda that the media so effectively bombards our life with.

Information that is presented to us through the media is more often than not a far cry from the actual truth of the reality. Really, reality is not what is presented in the news, it is how we react to what we hear. The news creates most people’s reality.

If you want to experience an immediate change in focus in your life, I challenge you to take up this simple exercise. What you will be doing is filtering the information you receive. You will be making decisions with a lot more clarity because you will only have to consider the necessary information in your daily tasks. You brain will start having to search for answers and you will regain your natural ability to make decisions based on an outcome not a current circumstance.

Your media fast must include all forms of media.
No TV - you are allowed to watch a movie, with no advertisements, once a week.
No Newspapers or magazines - exceptions maybe to the business section (but even then you are still reading articles based around someone’s perspective of a reality), read a biography of someone great.
No Radio - listen to a CD instead.

30 days of no media influencing your judgment, personal beliefs and focus in your life, and I guarantee you will experience exponentially bigger results and break throughs. You must use this new found time and space in your life to its fullest potential however. Start something new in your life, talk to someone successful who you might not usually talk too, get out of your comfort zone and expand your horizons.

Don't worry..... if anything of real importance happens while you are taking a break from the media you will hear about it from someone.

Good luck. Let me know how you go!

What Is Your Legacy?

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 270px; height: 157px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FCQg4OshCf8/SaDLhAlnDdI/AAAAAAAAAB4/-laXW_s4jP8/s320/2009.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5305464128996314578" />
What decisions are you going to make in 2009. What Legacy are you going to create for yourself.

Andy Andrews, an internationally respected and aclaimed author, discuss this topic in his recent bolg:

What we really desire (this time of year especially) is to make a decision with lasting results - a decision that actually changes our life and our legacy.

Why all of our decisions are not lasting I am not sure, that is a topic for another day. Todays topic is Lgacy.

So, if you died today ... what would your legacy be?

"On April 13, 1888, a man named Alfred woke up early that morning in Paris. While eating breakfast, he began to read the newspaper and was astonished to discover his own obituary on page 3. Naturally, it was a mistake, for in fact it was Alfred's brother Ludwig who had died.

As a result of this error, Alfred was afforded a rare opportunity — a chance to see how he would be remembered. And he didn't like what he saw. As David Zacks writes in An Underground Education:

"Alfred was shocked to see himself portrayed as the Merchant of Death, the man responsible for escalating the arms race. Even though he had made high-powered explosives much easier to use and was proud of how this power had been unleashed to mine precious minerals and to build roads, railways, and canals."

The obituary portrayed him as a "monster" whose discoveries "had boosted the bloody art of war from bullets and bayonets to long-range explosives in less than 24 years."

Stunned, but propelled into action, Alfred hatched a shrewd plan. Determined to change his current image and future legacy, he used his time and profits from the explosives to create an annual prize—for peace.

Today, few of us connect the creator of that prize to "the art of killing". And that, my friend, is just what Alfred Nobel intended."

Again ... if you died today, what would your legacy be?

How would you be described physically? Would anyone mention a specific habit or addiction in connection with your life?

Whether today, next month, or years from now, your legacy will one day be set in stone. What will we say you did? Who will we say you were? What difference will we celebrate that you made?

Your legacy is what you makes it.

And the most important part of your life ... begins now.

© 2008, Andy Andrews. Most of us have even perhaps admitted that to ourselves in the past at one point.

"I am just doing what I can to survive" or "I am just doing my best in life".

Let us look at those comments again this time re-phrased in a proactive manner, rather than reactive.

"I am doing what I can to be successful" or "I give my best effort plus more in life".

All of a sudden the possibilities and outcomes in life are endless and not limited to the acute size of our knowledge or experience. We open our minds up to a universe that allows us to think greater than we are currently being. When you achieve what you perceive to be your best and start focusing on going further and achieving more, your consciousness opens up to new possibilities. You are now going into unfamiliar territory, you are learning things you didn't previously know, you are experiencing new levels of comfort and you are in all senses of the word GROWING.

If you are not growing you are very quickly dying.

How do we stop living in survival mode and stop pushing the very buttons that create disease? We must change and grow our mindset. To change is to think greater than we feel. This sounds easy at first, but I soon realised that 'The Gap' between knowing and doing takes focused and repetitive practice.

Dr Joe Dispenza, an authority on quantum physics and psychology, says that if we are to change and grow as people we need to produce new emotions. We need to consciously rewire our brain to create what we want. Do not continue to accept routine in life which lulls the brain to sleep. To monitor change and advancement we must not use feelings as a guide to our progress. Feelings are memories of the past. Feelings and emotions are end products of experience.

When I jump out of bed in the morning I think, "What is the greatest I can feel today". "What is between me and that idea"? I cannot start my day being the same person who went to sleep otherwise I can only expect today to be the same as yesterday. Start the day focusing on something positive and greater than your current state. I focus on my goals, and suddenly I have a concise and specific vision of where I am going. I have an elevated sense of self and I can picture and feel like a new person. I am hard wiring my brain with images of success and growth. I am feeling the events ahead of their manifestation in the real world. I expect that my goals will unfold if I take the required action and live proactively. What I don't expect is how they will come to me in my day. I surrender the outcome and leave the finer details to the greater mind.

Surprise wakes the mind. Using familiar feelings as a barometer is only going to assure my daily experiences end up with the same result as yesterday. I continue to practice daily the ability to create new emotions that I like in events that are necessary to achieve my goal.

For example: I know that I must spend 1 hour each morning working on myself, setting up my day, visualizing and focusing on what I need to do, if I want to achieve my goals. If I don't do this each morning I simply will not get to where I want to go in the time frame I have set for myself. This is not something that I feel like doing every morning, especially when I have done a gym session the previous day and can barely roll out of bed, or I am having a conflict with someone in my life and I feel distracted, sad or angry.

THIS IS THE BEST TIME TO CREATE CHANGE, WHEN YOUR BODY DOES NOT WANT TO.

It is easier to reside with the feelings we currently have because those are the feelings we have repetitively associated with that state of being in the past. It feels comfortable to dwell in self pity and revision the events of the past instead of thinking about ways to make change and believing they will work. This is a good example of 'The Gap' between us knowing how to change and actually putting that into action and really creating it.

What would you do in that situation if you woke up feeling tired and angry? Would you go back to sleep for another hour then wake up and start your day with those feelings of tiredness and anger? Or would you push yourself to continue with your goal, spend the first couple of minutes working through those feelings of discomfort until you started to teach your body to feel good and look forward to that 1hr personal growth session every morning.

Here is something to think about today while you are at work:
If you currently have a job then you clearly understand the concept behind this article 'The Gap'. You go to work a certain time every day, looking a certain way, and you act a certain way. You realize that if you do this you will be rewarded in the form of a pay check at week’s end. If you don't go to work you don't get paid.
So, if we you want to change where you are going in life, you no longer want to accept feeling a certain way or continue to live without what it is you want in your life, you must set goals and review these goals daily and take action in life accordingly. We know that it is that easy!
